What Otterly gets right
Two things stand out. First, its trial is genuinely low-friction: their help centre states a 7-day trial with no credit card required, which is the least friction of any paid tool in this category. Note their homepage appears to advertise 14 days — worth checking which applies when you sign up.
Second, they publish a real methodology statement. Otterly documents that prompts run daily but not at a fixed hour, that users cannot manually trigger runs, and — the part we think deserves credit — that queries are issued as a neutral, non-personalised user so results are not skewed by browsing history. That last point is a genuine source of bias in this category and most vendors never mention it.
Two things to check before you buy
Engine coverage on the plan is narrower than the marketing suggests. Their help centre lists seven engines, but the pricing page includes four — with Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude sold as paid add-ons on every tier. Price the add-ons you actually need, not the headline.
There are also two different Otterlys. Bought direct, tracking is daily. Bought through the Semrush App Center it is a different SKU with weekly tracking and fewer engines. Make sure you know which one you are comparing.
And as with the rest of the category: daily cadence is documented, runs per day is not. “Daily” could be one sample or ten, and the number changes how much a single row is worth.
How we compare
Otterly tracks over time; we do not, yet. If you want a dashboard that watches a prompt set for you week after week, that is a real product and this is not it.
What our free report adds is checkable evidence: the questions asked, the answers returned verbatim, mention and citation detected separately, and the run count per engine printed on the result. If you want to know where you stand before committing to a subscription, that is the fastest honest way to find out.

Common questions
Is Otterly's trial really card-free?
Their help centre states the 7-day trial requires no credit card, which is unusual and worth taking advantage of. Verify at signup, since their homepage and help centre disagree on the trial length.
How many engines do I actually get?
Four are included on the plans as published — with Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude available as paid add-ons across tiers. Check the current pricing page before assuming coverage.
Should I use a free checker instead?
As a first step, yes. Free checks tell you whether you have a visibility problem. Only tracking tells you whether your fixes worked, and that is worth paying for once you are actually making changes.
