What you are actually paying for
It helps to know the vendor's cost structure, because it explains the tier boundaries you will be quoted.
Every tracked prompt is an API call to an AI engine, and search-grounded calls carry a per-search fee on top of tokens. A tool tracking 100 prompts across 4 engines daily is making 12,000 paid calls a month for one customer. That is the real driver behind per-prompt limits, and it is why 'unlimited' rarely means unlimited.
The corollary: when a vendor offers far more prompts for the same price, they are usually sampling less often, or covering fewer engines, or both. Cheaper is not automatically worse — but it is never free of a tradeoff, and it is fair to ask which one you are getting.
Rough shape of the market
Prices move, so treat these as bands rather than quotes, and check the vendor's page before deciding.
- Free one-off audits — a snapshot, no history. Useful for finding out whether you have a problem at all.
- Entry tiers, roughly $30–$120/month — one brand, a limited prompt set, weekly or daily checks.
- Mid tiers, roughly $150–$500/month — more prompts, more engines, competitor tracking, alerting.
- Enterprise — custom pricing, multi-brand workspaces, API access, and support commitments.
Whether it is worth it
The honest test is whether you will act on the data. Tracking is worth paying for when you are actively changing your site and content and need to know whether it worked. If nothing is going to change for six months, a periodic free audit tells you the same thing for nothing.
The second test is brand count. Per-brand pricing dominates once you pass three or four, and the tier that looked expensive for one brand often becomes the cheap option for five.

Common questions
Why is Unmentioned's audit free?
Because the diagnosis and the generic fixes are commodity — any assistant will give you the same advice. What costs money to run is repeated measurement over time, so that is what the paid plans cover. Tracking starts at $9.99/month.
Are annual plans worth it?
Only if you are confident you will still be using the tool in six months. This category is young and tools change quickly; monthly for the first few months is usually the better trade.
Do any tools charge per prompt?
Most price by tier with a prompt allowance rather than metering directly, but the allowance is the meter. Count the prompts you actually care about before comparing plans — it is usually fewer than the tier you were about to buy.
